Welcome to Community Threads… Our next chapter
After 35 years working alongside communities, partners and organisations, we’re proud to begin an exciting new chapter.
The National Communities Resource Centre (NCRC) is now Community Threads.
Our name may have changed, but our purpose remains the same.
We bring people together to build skills and confidence, increase their influence, overcome disadvantage and create lasting change. This has always been our guiding light in what we do and continues to shape our next chapter.
Why Community Threads?
Community Threads is a name that reflects the work at the heart of our organisation.
Every day, we help bring people together, build relationships and create connections across communities and organisations.
Just as threads bring individual pieces together to create something stronger, we connect people, ideas and experiences. We create opportunities for communities to grow, learn and create positive change through a range of programmes, shared learning, conversations and collaboration.
We are proud to be continuing our work for our programmes and projects:
- Aspirations Days – A unique experience for schoolchildren, combining outdoor learning, skills development and real-world career encounters
- The Tenants’ Voice – A free, tenant-led digital platform, helping social housing residents understand their rights
- Community Powerhouse – 12-month programme elping local Community Champions build confidence and skills while making connections to support their neighbourhoods and build stronger communities
- Shaping Positive Futures – Immersive residential experiences, helping 16–24-year-olds build confidence, skills and career connections to unlock pathways to employment
Building on the foundations of over 35 years’ experience
Our name may have evolved, but our foundations remain the same.
Our name marks a new chapter for the charity, but our mission, values and commitment to communities remain as they always have.
We’ve built strong relationships over the years, working nationally with residents, housing associations, schools, community organisations, government bodies, funders and businesses. Those relationships remain central to the work we deliver and we’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received throughout our journey.
New name, same goal
While our identity has evolved, our commitment to working alongside communities and making positive changes remains the same:
You can continue to expect:
- The same faces – even more experience and lots of passion!
- Continued community-led work
- A collaborative approach to everything we do
- Programmes, partnerships and relationships that continue to grow and evolve!
Our name gives us an opportunity to communicate what we do more clearly.
A message from our Chair of the board of Trustees
To celebrate the launch of Community Threads, our Chair, David Orr, has recorded a short video sharing more about the rebrand and what this next chapter means for our organisation and our communities.
A special thank you
Finally, we’d like to thank everyone who has been part of our story so far.
Your support, collaboration and belief in our work have helped shape Community Threads into the organisation it is today.
We’re excited about what lies ahead and look forward to continuing our journey with you.
Be part of the change
Every community has potential. Sometimes it just needs the right support and influence to unlock it. Connect with us and together, with communities, we’ll create lasting change.
